Background: 
  • Lee was born in Pretoria and matriculated in 2005 at Hoërskool Wonderboom.  Lee began singing at a very young age and had his first solo performance in Gr.5 at his primary schools annual school concert. That’s when the music bug bit him.  He competed in various talent competitions and he also did remarkable in the Pretoria Beeld Eisteddfod.  It wasn’t until Lee was in Gr.10 that he realised that he wants to sing for a living.
  • Lee started studying Musical Theatre at the Technicon of Pretoria (TUT).  After a short 3 months Lee joined the very popular Afrikaans boyband Hi-5.  He was part of the group from 2006 till the end of 2007.  The group did stage productions at the Sound Stage theatre as well as the Barnyard with the popular show called “Boys Are Back In Town”.  Hi-5 did numerous TV appearances like “Dis Hoe Dit Is Met Steve” and “DKNT” to name a few.  They were nominated for a SAMA (South African Music Award) award in 2007 for “Best Afrikaans Pop Album”.  They left shortly after that for Palma de Mallorca, Spain where they lived and performed in the Son Amar theatre for more than 6 months.
  • The group decided to part ways in December 2007.  Lee started doing theatre shows at Barnyards as well as Gold Reef City’s The Globe Theatre where he worked under the guidance of Director and Choreographer Harold van Buuren (Main Judge of SA’s “So You Think You Can Dance”)
Studio Cha: 
  • Lee joined Studio Cha in January 2015 and prides himself as being the only male coach there.
  • With Lee’s 10 year professional experience in the music industry he promise to take his students under his wings and to help them bring out the best in them. “The studio is the place to make mistakes and to ask questions so by the time they perform on stage, they would be flawless”.
  • Lee enjoys teaching his students and he strives in doing his best with each one. Lee is proud to associate himself with such a PRESTIGE studio like Studio Cha.
Special Awards, Prizes and Opportunities: 
  • Lee released his debut solo album “Die Enigste Manier” in August 2010 through EMI. The album was nominated for a SAMA and a Huisgenoot Tempo Award for “Best Afrikaans Pop Album”.
  • His song “We Can Try” was number 1 for 9 weeks on Radio Rippel 90.5 (now known as Groot fm 90.5)
  • In 2012 Lee acted in the KykNet shortfilm “Drukkersbloed”
  • Lee also performed at the 2012 SAFTA awards (South African Film and Televison Awards)
  • Lee released his second album in 2013 called “Vir Ewig”
  • In 2014 Lee played the role of Leon in the biggest Afrikaans musical, “Reik Na Die Sterre”
  • He is also a TV presenter for the popular KykNet program “Sêr” and also presents for “BRAVO” every now and then.
  • Lee shared the stage with SA’s biggest artist in the likes of Kurt Darren, Emo Adams and Andre Schwartz just to name a few.
  • In 2013 Lee launched his international career in The Netherlands.
